  	He was declared a town charge and the Selectman ordered to see if his brother, Eleazer would look after him. The next month, Samuel Jennison was paid 20 shillings per week to take care of him.
  	On 22 January 1727/28, the selectman of Watertown ordered: "At said Meeting the Selectmen Agreed with Eleazer Whitney To take care of his Brother Elnathan Whitney undr his preƒent helpleƒs Circumƒtances. and take him home to his houƒe and and Look well after him from this time to the Laft day of march next Enƒuing and the Seleclmen Ingage he shall haue reaƒonable Satisfaction therefor, as alƒo for the time past ye he has taken the care of him. And that he said Eleazr take ye sd Elnathans bed and beding his wareing Apparrel and such houƒehold Stuff and proviƒion belonging to him that may be needfull for the said Elnathan." [1]
