As a small boy, he accompanied his parents and younger brother to the New World. On the voyage, his mother died, not an uncommon occurrence in those days. Upon reaching this shore, his father soon died leaving Peter and his brother orphans. Peter was placed with a family in Oxford, Mass. His brother was also placed, but here he disappears into history. To date, no trace of him has been found. |

The Spring after his marriage, he went to Warwick, Massachusetts and purchased a tract of land. There he build a house and started a farm. In the fall of 1767, he returned to Oxford, to get his wife and their new baby daughter, Bathsheba. The farm was a prosperous one of over 280 acres. |

Peter served in the Revolution in the company of Capt. Agrippa Wells, Col. Samuel Brewers's regiment. Peter served for three months at Fort Ticonderoga starting 1 September 1777. He mustered out of the army at Deerfield on 10 December 1777. |
