  Lt. John Whipple, the son of Matthew and Anna (Hawkings) Whipple. He was born on 6 September 1632 in Bocking, Essex, England. He subscribed, 19 December 1648, to the Town of Ipswich 2 shillings. About 1656 John, married (1) Sarah Kent, daughter of James Kent. After Sarah's death, on 5 May 1659 John, at age 26, married (2) Elizabeth Woodman, daughter of Lt.
