  Deacon Samuel Barber, the son of Captain George and Elizabeth (Clark) Barber. He was born on 6 January 1646/47 in Dedham, Massachusetts. His birth date was recorded as 6 (11) 1646. He was christened on 17 January 1647 in Dedham, Massachusetts. He was admitted as a townsman in 1675 in Medfield, Massachusetts. He served as a schoolmaster, the Representative to the Massachusetts General Court for Medfield for five years, a Selectman for thirty-one years, and the Town Clerk for twenty-eight years He was probably the owner of one of the biggest houses in town as the Town Meeting was held there in 1688. He was ordained a deacon in 1710 in the Medfield Church. After Mary's death, on 7 August 1736 Samuel, at age 89, married (2) Sarah Millins, in Medfield, Massachusetts.
