History |
He was excommunicated, and imprisoned, but later absolved for his support of the barons. On 10 February 1214, he was released from prison. He soon joined the barons again, and was again excommunicated along with his brother. He did homage to the King of France, and then at the relief of Lincoln Castle, saved himself by fleeing. One 4 October 1217, he returned is allegiance to the king, and received his lands back. However, the 20,0000 mark fine was now his debt with the death of his brother. [3] |
