    • Cerdic,then a Saxon Earldorman, and his son Cynric landed in the area of Southhampton in 495, [see picture below] and then moved north into what is now Hampshire and Wiltshire to found The Kingdom of the West Saxons or Wessex. [1, 3, 4]
    • "495. This year came two leaders into Britain, Cerdic and Cynric, his son, with five ships." [1]
    • In 519, he assumed the title of the King of the West Saxons in Winchester, Hampshire, England. "519. This year Cerdic and Cynric undertook the government of the West Saxcons; the same year they fought with the Britons at a place called Charford. From that day have reigned the children of the West Saxon kings." [1, 4]
