    As a small boy, he accompanied his parents and younger brother to the New World. On the voyage, his mother died, not an uncommon occurrence in those days. Upon reaching this shore, his father soon died leaving Peter and his brother orphans. Peter was placed with a family in Oxford, Mass. His brother was also placed, but here he disappears into history. To date, no trace of him has been found.

    The Spring after his marriage, he went to Warwick, Massachusetts and purchased a tract of land. There he build a house and started a farm. In the fall of 1767, he returned to Oxford, to get his wife and their new baby daughter, Bathsheba. The farm was a prosperous one of over 280 acres.
