Gertrude Elizabeth Sahr

     Gertrude Elizabeth Sahr was born on 7 October 1904 at Pennsylvania.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of Albert M. Sahr and Margaret Elizabeth Merdian. Gertrude, age 5, appeared on the US Census of 1910 living at Ralanning Pike, O'Hara Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania,in the household of her parents, Albert M. and Margaret Elizabeth Sahr.⁴ Gertrude, age 15, appeared on the US Census of 1920 living at 208 Singer Avenue, McKees Rocks, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania,in the household of her parents, Albert M. and Margaret Elizabeth Sahr. She was a saleslady in a department store.⁵ According to the Federal Census in 1920, Gertrude was a saleslady in a department store.⁵ Her married name was Henley.

Gertrude Elizabeth Sahr married William Clement Henley, son of Richard J. Henley and Hannah (Johanna) Patt.



Gertrude, age 25 years, and William, age 27 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 on 21 Linshaw Street, Ingram, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.⁶ Gertrude, age 35 years, and William, age 37 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 on 10 Leslie Street, Ingram, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.⁷ Gertrude, age 45 years, and William, age 47 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 on 436 Serpentine Road, Mount Lebanon, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.⁸ According to the Federal Census in 1950, Gertrude was a salesman in the boy's department of a clothing store.⁸ In 1994, the year Gertrude died, she lived at Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland.² She died on 16 February 1994 at Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, at age 89.^2,3 Gertrude was buried at Resurrection Cemetery, Coraopolis, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in section 17.³
