Catherine Sahr was born on 18 May 1910 at O'Hara Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3,4,5
She was the daughter of Albert M. Sahr and Margaret Elizabeth Merdian. Catherine, age 8, appeared on the US Census of 1920 living at 208 Singer Avenue, McKees Rocks, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania,in the household of her parents, Albert M. and Margaret Elizabeth Sahr.1 Catherine, age 19 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 on 1250 Faulkner Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, She was a salesperson in a department store.6 Her married name was Sigmund.
Catherine Sahr married William Anthony Sigmund, son of William Thomas Sigmund and Katherine Marie Kaiser.
Catherine, age 29 years, and William, age 33 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 on 1119 Newcomer Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.9 Catherine, age 39 years, and William Sahr, age 43 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 at 225 Scotia Street, Ingram, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.10 In 2001, the year Catherine died, she lived at Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.3 She died on 30 May 2001 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at age 91.3,11,2,5 Catherine's obituary of 31 May 2001, reads:
Formerly of South Park Twp, age 91, on Wednesday, May 30, 2001; wife of the late William A. Sigmund; beloved mother of William A. (Margaret) of Newark, DE, Dr. Thomas F. (Marcy) of Johnstown, PA and Donald R. (Joanne) of Bethe Park; also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends received Friday, 2-4 and 7-9pm at PAUL L. HENNEY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, INC. 5570 Library Rd, BETHEL PARK. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 10am, at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church, Whitehall. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to St. Gabriel Church, 5200 Greenridge Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
