Charles Philip Myers was born on 23 March 1921 at Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 He was the son of Joseph Lucas Myers and Anna Isabelle Geiger. Charles, age 9, appeared on the US Census of 1930 living at 335 Spring Street, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, Joseph Lucas and Anna Isabelle Myers.9 Charles, age 18, appeared on the US Census of 1940 living at 335 Spring Street, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, Anna Isabelle and Geiger.10 According to the Federal Census in 1940, Charles was was working as a newsboy while in his last year of high school.10 On on 16 February 1942, Charles registered for the World War II draft, while living at 335 Spring Street, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He gave his age as 20 and his employer as the Latrobe Electic Steel Company.6
He served in the U.S. Army from 30 August 1945 to 23 May 1947 reaching the rank of Sergeant.6,5
On 10 June 1946, Charles Philip Myers and June Rose Robb announced their engagement. The announcement read:
Charles and June obtained a marriage license on 11 October 1946 at Bexar County, Texas.12
Charles Philip Myers, age 25, married June Rose Robb, age 21 , daughter of Samuel B. Robb and Lula V. Beckes, on 14 October 1946 at the Post Chapel, AAF Military Training Center, San Antonio.
Charles and June's wedding announcement of 27 October 1946, reads:
Charles, age 28 years, and June Myers, age 24 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 at Derry, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.15 In 1967, the year Charles died, he lived at 125 Chestnut Lane, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.2,3 He died on 19 July 1967 in the Latobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Texas, at age 46 from a massive coronary occlusion.1,2,3,7,8
Charles's obituary of 20 July 1967, reads:
Charles P. Myers Sr., 46, 125 Chestnut Lane, Latrobe, died 7 p.m. yesterday in Latrobe be Hospital. Born in Latrobe, March 23, 1921, son of late Joseph and Anna Geiger Myers. Member of St. John the Evangelist Church, employed by Elliott Co., Jeannette, as pipe fitter.
Surviving widow, Mrs. June R. Robb Myers; children: Michael V., Marlane, Jeanne, Charles P. Jr., U.S. Army, Ft. Bragg, N.C; brothers and sisters: William and James, Latrobe; Paul and Joseph, Ohio; Raymond, Hattsifled; Mrs. Elizabeth Bercel, New Kensington; Mrs. Chester (Madeline) Ludwig, Latrobe.
Family will receive friends at the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Further details will be announced later.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Church with interment following in St. Vincent Cemetery.
