     James Boyle was born in October 1852 at Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Boyle and Alice Langan. James Boyleappeared on the US Census of 1860 in the household of John Boyle and Alice Langan at Baldwin, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.1 James, age 17, appeared on the US Census of 1870 living at Wilkins Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, John and Alice Boyle.2 According to the Federal Census in 1870, James was a coal miner.2

James Boyle married Mary Sweeney in 1882.
