Born March 3, 1900, in Columbia County, she was a daughter of the late Horatio and Elizabeth Wertman Shoemaker.She was married to Alvin R. Oakes, who died April 15, 1964.
She was the oldest member of St. John's United Church of Christ, McEwensville.
She is survived by two sons, F. Dale of Watsontown RD2 and Dean I. of Douglas, Ariz; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and John Richard, four brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the William F. Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville, by the Rev. Robert G. Withers. Burial will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.
Visitor may call at funeral home from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
