     Joseph Whelpley was born on 13 September 1780 at Stamford, Connecticut.1,2 He was the son of Darling Whelpley and Abigail Peck. Joseph moved to Colony of Nova Scotia (now New Brunswick), British North America, with his parents, Darling and Abigail Whelpley in 1783.3

Joseph Whelpley, age 23, married Charlotte Davidson, age 17 on 30 June 1804 at the Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick, Canada.
