Elijah Horton, age 21, married Elizabeth Ann Travis, age 21 , daughter of John Travis and Phebe Whitney, on 29 November 1831 at Yorktown, Westchester County, New York, They were married by the Rev. John Sloat, the Methodist Minister.
In 1833,Elijah and Betsymoved to Carmel, Putnam County, New York.2 Elijah, appeared on the US Census of 1840 at Phillipstown, Putnam County, New York. The enumeration reads:
