Mabel Thomas was born on 17 February 1785 at Saint John, Queens County, New Brunswick, British North America.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Cope Thomas and Mary Blakeslee.
Mabel Thomas, age 19, married William Whelpley, son of Darling Whelpley and Abigail Peck, on 3 December 1804 at the Saint John, Queens County, New Brunswick, British North America. They were married by Rev. Dr. Byles.1,2 As of 3 December 1804,her married name was Whelpley. Mabel Thomas died on 5 May 1866 at Saint John, Queens County, New Brunswick, British North America, at age 81.1,3 Mabel's obituary of 6 May 1866, reads:
d. 5th inst., Mabel relict of Wm WHELPLEY, age 85. She died as she lived peaceful and quiet, requesting all to leave the room but one and asked that one not to speak, adding that she was about going home and thus she died without a groan or a struggle. Funeral Sunday one o'clock from her son's residence Pond St. (St. John) Her remains will be interred at Mispec.3
