     Alma Matthews was born circa 1871 at Vermont. She was the daughter of Joseph Matthews and Jane Elisabeth Pareau. Alma appeared on the US Census of 1880 living at Montpelier, Vermont,in the household of her parents, Joseph and Eliza Matthews.1
