     George H. Matthews was born circa 1876 at Vermont. He was the son of Joseph Matthews and Jane Elisabeth Pareau. George appeared on the US Census of 1880 living at Montpelier, Vermont,in the household of his parents, Joseph and Eliza Matthews.1
