     Sarah Elizabeth Small was born on 14 February 1844 at New Brunswick, British North America.2,3 She was the daughter of Deacon James Melvin Small and Julie Ann Wett.1 Sarah appeared on the Canadian Census of 1851 at Grand Manan, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, British North America, in the household of her parents, James Melvin and Julie Ann Small.4

Sarah Elizabeth Small married Henry Gilbert Whelpley, son of William Whelpley and Mabel Thomas.

She was a widow.5 She died on 23 August 1921 at North Head, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada, at age 77 from chronic rheumatism, causing complications, and apoplexy.2,3 Sarah was buried on 25 August 1921 at North Head Cemetery, North Head, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada.2
