     Deacon Hopestill Leland was born on 15 November 1655. He was the son of Henry Layland and Margaret Badcock.

Deacon Hopestill Leland, age 22, married Abigail Hill, age 19 , daughter of John Hill and Hannah Johnson, on 5 November 1678. Deacon Hopestill Leland died on 19 August 1729 at age 73.
