William Bernard Gaughan was born on 31 May 1875 at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3 He was the son of Thomas Gaughan and Winifred Noble. William, age 5, appeared on the US Census of 1880 living at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, Thomas and Winifred Gaughan.4 William, age 25, appeared on the US Census of 1900 living at 5 Hickory Street, Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, Thomas and Winifred Gaughan.1 According to the census in 1900, William was a teacher.1 William registered for the draft giving his age as 43, and his employer as the Bethlehem Loading Company on 11 September 1918 at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.3
William, age 44 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 at 18 South Kentucky Avenue, Atlantic City, Atlantic County, New Jersey. William was a waiter in a hotel in 1920.5 He died on 4 May 1926 at Kingston, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, at age 50 from apoplexy.2
William was buried on 6 May 1926 at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.2
