Anais Roy was born circa 1863 at Province du Québec, Canada.1 She was the daughter of Joseph Roy and Marie-Adelaide Gagnon. Anais Roy went by the nick-name of Ada. Anais, age 8, appeared on the Canadian Census of 1871 at Lévis, Québec, Canada, in the household of her parents, Joseph and Marie-Adelaide Roy.1 Anais immigrated with her family on 1 March 1877 to Cohoes, Albany County, New York.2 She, age 20, appeared on the US Census of 1880 living at 119 Wilmar Avenue, Cohoes, Albany County, New York,in the household of her father Joseph Roy.3 The Census Record lists her as the wife of her father. Clearly an error.3
