8. | William de Welles was born about 1155 in Dalston Barony, Norfolk, England (son of Robert de Welle and Maud); died on 1241 - 1242. Other Events and Attributes:
- History: 1208; In the ninth year of the reign of John I, William de Welles gave fifty marks for one knight's fee in Grimsby, Lincolnshire.
- History: 1210; In 1210, he was part of the expedition to Ireland. Five years later he paid a 20 mark fine to by the King's favor, however in May 1217, his lands were granted to Fulk d'Oyri. That fall, he was again accepted as loyal to the King. In 1221, he sided with the Crown against William de Forz, Count of Aumale. In January 1229, he was ordered to assist the sherriff of Lincolnshire to ceasing shpes to be sent to Portsmouth for the the King's use.
