In December 633, he was crowned the King of Austrasia.
He was canonized in 1170.
Buried:
He was buried in the Abbey of Saint Martin near Metz which he had founded. In 1063 his body, found incorrupt, was taken out of the tomb and moved to the side of the altar. The abbey was demolished in 1552 and the relics were moved to the Nancy Cathedral.

In 584, he was crowned the King of Neustria. His mother served as his regent, as he was a new born.
In 613, he was crowned the King of the Franks.
He signed the "Perpetual Constitution" about 614, which was an early Magna Carta.
The Frankish Kingsoms of Neustria, Austrasia and Burgundy were united briefly under Clothaire II from 623 and 629.
