She was also known as Bobilla. Austrechild's name was also spelt Austrechildis.

She was a servant in Gontran's first wife's father's household.

Gregory of Tours calls her "this wicked woman" and states that on her deathbed, she ordered the throats of her two doctors cut for not healing her.

Austrechild married Saint Gontran, King of the Franks in 566. Gontran (son of Clothaire I, King of the Franks and Ingunde) was born between 532 and 534; died on 28 Mar 592; was buried in St-Marcel, Paris, Île-de-France, France. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
