4. | Gospatric of High Ireby, Lord of Workington in Coupland (son of Orm, Lord of Seaton and Ibrea de Trevers); died in 1179. Other Events and Attributes:
Notes:
Parents: Earlier sources give Gunnilda of Dunbar as his mother, however Guido (2005) clearly shows that his mother was Ibrea de Trevers.
History:
He exchanged lands with his cousin, William I de Lancaster for the lands of William de Lnacaster at Workington in Coupland.
Gospatric became lord of Workington, Flemingby, Seton and Camberton upon the death of his father.
In 1174, he made a grant of common pasture in Flemingby, Seton and Camberton to Holm Cultram Abbey. He and his wife Egeliva gave land next to Flemingby that had belonged to Aculphus, his tenant, to the Church of St. Mary in Carlisle. This charter was witnessed by his brother Michael.
Gospatric married Egeline Engaine. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
