Sullivan of Glen Mills Ruth Gallagher Sullivan, 89, a dedicated homemaker and enthusiastic volunteer, died Monday from complications of multiple strokes at Renaissance Gardens of Maris Grove in Glen Mills. She committed her life to raising and educating her seven children. Ruth was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and raised in New York State and suburban Philadelphia. She attended St. Andrew Elementary School in Drexel Hill and graduated high school from St. Leonard Academy in West Philadelphia in 1939. She attended Immaculata College and also Our Lady of Angels College, now Neuman University. With her deceased husband Edmund (Sully), whom she was married in 1941, she had been a member of St. Dorothy Church in Drexel Hill since April 1952. Mrs. Sullivan's employments included the foreign student office at Villanova University, Lord & Taylor Department Stores modeling for Wingback Jewelry, and Wannamaker Department Stores. Her volunteer organizations included PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization), and the Red Hats Society. In addition, during the 1960's, she co-founded the Great Books Discussion Group for students at St. Dorothy Elementary School. With her husband Sully, Ruth was an avid traveler and took particular pleasure in taking courses through Elder Hostel (now Roads Scholar). Mrs. Sullivan also enjoyed and became a certified instructor for Jacki Sorensen's aerobic dancing, which she did into her late 60's. Ruth was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Hennessey Gallagher and Aloysius Gallagher. Mrs. Sullivan is survived by daughters, Denise and Shelly, sons Edmund J, Jr, Timothy, Kevin, Brian, and Mark, 31 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at St. Dorothy Church at Township Line and Burmont Road in Drexel Hill. Friends may call at 12 noon. They had five children, Rosemari Sullivan (Ted), Margaret Ziegenfuss (James), Joan Gaughan, John R. Gaughan (Kathy) and William Clark Gaughan (Carolyn). Margaret graduated from St. Anne's Academy in Wilkes Barre, PA and Georgetown Visitation Junior College, Washington, DC with a degree in business. Her career included banking at National Central Bank, and serving as administrator in Auditor General's office under Robert P. Casey, Sr. and several others. Mrs. Gaughan also worked on Governor Casey's campaign and transition team as well as for AARP. Mrs. Gaughan is survived by her five children, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews including Nancy Witaconis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine Laboure, Harrisburg on August 14th at 1:30 p.m. with visitation at Gilbert L. Dailey FH, 650 S. 28th Street Harrisburg from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday and Friday morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorial contributions are requested for the Susquehanna EMT or Saint Catherine Laboure Parish.     Miss Margaret Mary Clark, daughter of Maj. and Mrs. William A. Clark of Wyoming, was married this morning at 10 o'clock in St, Cecilia's Church, Wyoming, to Attorney John R. Gaughan, of Archbald. son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John A. Gaughan. Rev. Henry Vincent Lawler, O.F.M., of St. Francis Monastery, New York, performed the ceremony and was celebrant of the nuptial mass during which Miss Sara Kearns was at the organ with George Helfrich as soloist.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father and had her cousin. Mrs. Joseph F. Hoffman, for her only attendant. Lieut. David J. Reedy Jr., this city, and Lieut. Thomas F.' Clark. United States Naval Reserve, Wyoming, brother of the bride, and Midshipman Francis N. O'Rourke of Archbald, cousin of the bridegroom, were ushers. Breakfast followed for the bridal party at Hotel Sterling, Wilkes-Barre, where a reception was also held. Later, Attorney and Mrs. Gaughan left for New York and Chicago. 111.

    The former Miss Clark, whose father recently resigned as commander of Squadron 3, Pennsylvania State Police, is a graduate of St. Ann's Academy, Wilkes-Barre, and Georgetown Visitation Junior College, Washington, D. C.. Attorney Gaughan was graduated from Archbald High School and LaSalle College, Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania Law School A member of the Lackawanna County Bar Association, he has just returned from twenty months service in the European theater of operations where he served as a special agent of the Counterintelligence Corps.

      Carried Supplies To Troops in France During" World War Thomas F. Sullivan, stevedoring executive and a retired Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve, died Saturday at his home, 7116 Pennsylvania ave., Bywood. He was 65. At sea as a captain in the Merchant Marine when the first World War broke out, Mr. Sullivan was commissioned a Lieutenant Commander and carried supplies to the troops in France. He was retired after the war and returned to the Merchant Marine. HEADED TRIAL RUN Just before organizing his own stevedoring business here in 1933, he took the 10,000-ton cruiser. U. S. S. Tuscaloosa, out of the New York Shipbuilding Corp. yards for a trial run prior to its acceptance by the Navy. Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, a charter member of the Alhambra, member of the Men of Malvern and ' of the Holy Name Society of St. Laurence's Church, Highland Park. He also was a director of the Vessel Owners' and Captains' Association, and a member of the Port of Philadelphia Maritime Society. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hon-ora Agnes Sullivan, and three sons, Edmund J., Gerard J. and Thomas F. Sullivan, Jr. Solemn Requiem Mass will be sung at 10 A. M. Wednesday in St. Laurence's Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Gallagher was Interested in community affairs and participated in Community Chest and Chamber of Commerce activities and was a member of the Better Business Bureau. He was president of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in 1945, was a member of Binghamton Council, Knights of Columbus, and St. Dorothy's Roman Catholic Church, Drexel Hill. Surviving are two sons, Joseph and Paul, Philadelphia; two daughters, Mrs. William Kane, Franklin Lakes, N.J.; Mm. Edmund Sullivan, Drexel Hill; a brother, Patrick, Sewell, N.J.; two foster daughters, Mrs. Margaret Becker, Scranton; Mrs. David Porter, Norfolk, Va.; 28 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
