  1. 1.  Eleanor Emery was christened on 7 Nov 1624 in Romsey, Hampshire, England (daughter of John Emery and Mary); died in 1700.

    • Married: Abt 1640; John Bailey, the son of John Bailey. He was born about 1613 in Chippenham, Wiltshire, England. He was a weaver and a husbandman. John came over with his father aboard the 'Angel Gabriel' which sailed from Bristol April 1635. He and his father were cast ashore at Pemaquid, now Bristol, Maine in the great storm of 15 August 1635. Because of this his father would not return to England nor send for his wife, John's mother. He first settled in Salisbury where he received land in the first division in 1640 and in 1643. He removed to Newbury about 1644. In 1652, he was taxed in Salisbury and was recorded there in 1653 and 1654. John was one of the original commoners of Amesbury in 1654, and received land there, but apparently never lived there. In 1661, he was back in Newbury. He became a freeman in Newbury in 1678. His will was made 30 December 1690' He died in March 1691 in Newbury, Massachusetts. His estate was proved 31 March 1691.     This date is doubtful. It is not found in the Newbury vital records, and John was fined in 1646 for paying too much attention to a married woman. We might assume he was single at this time.
