    • Inventory: 5 Mar 1671/72, Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; A fairly accurate inventory of his property about this time is probably given, for having gotten into a difficulty which obliged him to leave town, we find recorded, 1671-2, March 5: "In reference to a frame of an house framed by Josias Wormall according to agreement with Thomas Dotey, the said Dotey being departed the goument (etc.), the Court ordered that a proffer be made to Joseph Dotey the agent of the said Thomas Dotey to fulfill the conenants of his brother and take the frame, or if he refuses the said Wormall to sell." He did return to Plymouth.
    • Legal: 29 Oct 1673, Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; We find this in he Plymouth Records on 29 October 1673: "In reference to the complaint of Edward Gray and John Rickard against Thomas Dotey and his companie or boats crew, in reference vnto theire rvmuing theire boate against the said Grayes boate, the Court orders that the said Dotey and his said companie shall pay the sume of twenty and fine shillings towards the losse of an anchor and pts of a road which was lost by the said boatesrunning one against another, which sume is to be payed to the said Gray and Rickard, vnto whom the said anchor and road belonged, and whereas the said mr of the boate was much to blame respecting the prmises, it is ordered by the Court, that hee shall beare a double share of the said award, and that the witnesses who witnessed in the case be allowed seauen shillings."
    • Will: 4 Dec 1678, Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; Thomas Dotey of Plymouth being very sicke yett haveing the use of his sences and reason Did on the fourth Day of December 1678 Declare these following words To be his last will Namly that all his estate hee Gave absolutely to his wife Mary Dotey to be wholly att her Dispose and left it all with her to Improve and make use of as shee should see best; This hee Declared to be his will as above written ; In the prsence of Edward Dotey and Samuell Eaton and Anne Sav[blotted]*; And it was Comitted to writing December the 5 th within 24 houres after the Death of the said Thomas Dotey;

    Marriages: The question of whether Thomas Doty had one wife or two, has been a matter of conjecture for many years. An examination of all the many court documents proves that Thomas Doty had only one wife, Mary Churchill.
