    Other Events and Attributes:

    • History: He was one of the chief commanders in the Battle of the Standard fought in Scotland near Northallertonin 1138. He was taken prisoner along with King Stephen by the Empress Maud at the Battle of Lincoln. In 1148, he took the cross and accompanied King Louis of France to the Holy Land there enhancing his reputation by defeating a Muslim in single combat. He supported Prince Henry in his rebellion against Henry II and thereby lost some castles. His piety was well known, and he again took up the cross, traveling to the Holy Land where he was taken prisoner. He was freed by the Knights Templars, however died soon after
