    • History: 11 Sep 1697; He was taken captive among the Indians in 1697. He was ransomed from captivity by Jonathan Farnsworth in 1699. After his return, Richard Moore became his guardian.

    All traces of his grave and stone were removed with the burying ground was turned into a park. The location of the grave and it's inscription were copied by William S. Barton and deposited in the Worcester Antiquarian Society. His gravestone read:

    • History: 10 Mar 1676, Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts; Ephraim was the sole person to escape from the Rowlandson garrison. Both is wife and daughter were killed.
    • Military: 18 May 1676; He was with Captain Turner and his band when they supersized the Indians at what is now Turner's Falls and attacked them, killing many, and hurling their bodies into the river. The scattered Indians regrouped and counter attacked, killing Captain Turner and 38 of his men. Capain Turner's body was found at the foot of the falls later named for him.
    • Moved To: 1684, Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts; Ephaim and Hannah returned to rebuild Lancaster.
    • Probate/Proved: 13 Sep 1697; Inventory was taken of his possessions two days after the massacre. Among the probate records is a charge against the estate by Jonathan Prescott for curing one of Ephraim's daughters from wounds inflected by the Indians. Obviously a serious wound, but which daughter is unknown.

John Roper was to pay the estate 15 shillings for the buildings and fencing. The court order was signed 9 (8) 1662.
