In the battle of Megiddo, he defeated Josiah, King of Judea. In 605 BCE, he was defeated in the battle of Carchemish by Nebuchadressar, but in 601 BCE, he defeated Nebuchadressar securing the Egyptian boarders. He began the construction of a canal to the Red Sea, and during his reign, an Egyptian fleet circumnavigated Africa in a 3 year voyage.
