Deacon William Greenwood, the son of Thomas and Abigail Greenwood. He was born on 14 October 1689 in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. In 1710 in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Deacon William Greenwood was drawn to go to Port Royal and Canada. He was a farmer and a deacon in the church in Sherborn. He served in 1717 in Sherborn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, as a tithingman. He served in Sherborn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, as the Town Clerk for 24 years. He was a man of character and great respect. It is said that, about 1730, he received the first potatoes in town and after testing their succulent qualities declared that "after freezing and thawing a few time they would be good." He was granted land in 1730 in Sherborn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He served in Sherborn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, as a Selectman for 6 years. He served in 1747 in Sherborn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, as a Representative to the Massachusetts General Court. He died in 1756 in Sherborn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
