  After a long and exceptionally vivid religious preamble, Richard Pyle asked to be buried in the churchyard of Upper Wallop as near as possible to his father, and named his brother Edward Pyle executor. He bequeathed to the poor people of Pourton [i.e., Porton] an annuity of 20s payable out of his land there now in the occupation of his brother Walter Pyle, to be bestowed in woollen cloth, at the discretion of the vicar. He made bequests to brother Walter Pyle and Walter’s sons Richard and Walter and daughters Jane, Agnes, and Mary Pyle. He named also three of the sons of “my sister Ellen Osgood,” John, Stephen, and Thomas Kent, leaving to John and Stephen each an annuity of £8 out of the profits of the Parsonage of Idmeston, and to Thomas £10 in money. Overseers were to be William Kent, gent., and Richard Kent; Thomas Kent was one of the witnesses.
