Hon. Isaac Addington, the son of Isaac and Ann (Leverett) Addington. He was born on 22 January 1644/45 in Boston, Massachusetts. His birth date was recorded as 22 (11) 1644. He was christened on 26 January 1645 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was employed by Syled as a chirurgeon in a deed on 7 April 1669 in Boston, Massachusetts. He became a freeman on 7 May 1673 in Boston, Massachusetts. Isaac joined the First Church in Boston on 18 January 1679/80 [18 (11) 1679]. He served in 1685 as Representative to the General Court and Speaker of the House. He was Chosen Ruling Elder. on 9 January 1688/89. He served in April 1689 as Clerk of the Council of Safety after the overthrow of Governor Sir Edmund Andros. Isaac served on 11 June 1690 as Secretary of the Province under the Provisional Government. He served on 7 October 1691 as Secretary of the Province under the new charter of King William and Queen Mary and held this office until his death. He served between March 1692 and 1702 as Judge of the Court of Common Pleas. Isaac served in 1702 as Chief Justice of the Superior Court. He was appointed by Governor Dudley and held this office for a year.After Elizabeth's death, on 19 November 1713 Isaac, at age 68, married (2) Elizabeth Norton, in Boston, Massachusetts. They were married by the Rev. Benjamin Colman. He left a will on 1 January 1713/14 in Boston, Massachusetts. He died on Monday 19 March 1714/15 in Boston, Massachusetts. His estate was probated on 13 May 1715 in Boston, Massachusetts.
From the Boston News-Letter, 21 March 1714/15: "On Saturday last the 19th Currant, Died here about Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon, the truly Honourable and very Worthy Isaac Addington Esq, Secretary for His majesty's Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England, who with great Wisdom, Honour and Faithfulness served his Generation by the Will of GOD, in that Office for above Twenty years, being appointed thereto by the Late King William and Queen Mary of Glorious Memory, in their Royal Charter. He was born in New-England, and a great Honour to his Country; he Dyed in the Seventy-first Year of his Age."
