Rev. John Whiting, the son of William and Susanna Whiting. John Whiting received his AB from Harvard in 1653, and his AM in 1655. He was born in England. John, married (1) Phebe Gregson, daughter of Thomas Gregson. After a controversy over the baptism of infants in Salem, John was a minister in Salem, Mass., which he served until his death. He died on Thursday 8 September 1689 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts.
