On 19 April 1775 he fought at the battle of Lexington. He was a private in a company of alarm or minute men in the town of Needham, commanded by Capt. Caleb Kingsbury in Col. Aaron Davis regiment. The muster roll on file at State House, Boston Mass. shows he marched 30 miles and served one day. The distance from Needham to the scene of the conflict was 15 miles which distance was covered by company the preceding night and early morning of Apr. 19th enabling them to arrive in time to be of service. Several members of this company were killed and others wounded. |
