He made his will on 2 December 1561. Daughters Christian, Agnes, and Jane, were to receive a hundred marks each at age 17. Son Gabriel was to receive “my parsonage of Froxfolde which I do hold of th’treasurer of the Church of Sarum or else the monney if it may not be obtained by the lawe . . . also my parsonage of Colingborne which I hold of the Trinitie Church of Winchester.” Wife Isabel was to have the profits until son Gabriel was 20. Brother Richard Pyle was to receive £20, “one cross bowe and my russet gowne.” Brother John Pyle was to receive £10, “my best gold [ringe?] and my best blacke gowne.” “Chebrell of Shalborne to his wife and children” were to receive “40s for a certain matter between us.” “My poor neighbours” [of Froxfold in Hampshire, and Collingborne] were to receive various amounts. The rest unbequeathed was left to wife Isabel, and she was named executrix. Overseers were to be Mr Robert Brown, brothers Richard and John Pyle, and Edward Gilberd of [Everleigh?]. |
