In the name of God Amen the fiftenth daye of January Anno domini 1636 I Thomas Page of Hasted [Hawstead] in the countie of Suff yeoman being sicke in of bodie but of good & perfect memory thankes be to God ther fore doe herby make & ordeyne this my last will & testament in manner & forme followeing revoaking herby all other wills hertofore by me made And first of all & especially I doe comend my soule into the handes of Almightie God my Creator hopeing & assuredly trusting by and throughe the merites death & passion of my sweet Saviour Christ Jesus to have remyssion of all my sins & consequently inherite the kingdome of heaven prepared for me & all the Elect people of God[29] And for my temporall estate which it hath pleased God to bestowe uppon me I doe dispose thereof as followeth And First of all I give & devise to the poore people of Hasted a foresaide xxs [twenty shillings] to be distributed at the discretion of my Executor And wheras uppon marriage with Elizabeth my nowe wife I did enter bond unto her for the payement of Eleaven poundes per Annum dureing her life & wheras alsoe she is to have 4 li [four pounds] per Annum dureing her Life out of certeine landes at Fynnyngham in the countie of Suff in Addition to all which I doe herby devise unto the saide Elizabeth All such household stuffe & ymplementes of household which she brought with her at the tyme of our intermarriage which I doe give unto her in liew of all demandes whatsoever which she shall can or may challenge out of my estate the said Eleaven poundes per Annum and the saide Foure poundes per annum onely excepted) And I doe herebie intreat her to be herwith sattisfied & contented And wheras I promysed Thomas Lock threscore poundes in consideracion of marriage with my daughter Mary & have already payde hym thirtie poundes therof I doe herby give to hym the saide Thomas thirtie poundes more which some my meanyng is shalbe in full discharge of my promyse aforesaide And my meanyng is the saide thirtie poundes shalbe paide unto hym the saide Thomas within one yeare next after my decease Item I give to William my sonne (if he shalbe alive at the tyme of my decease) the some of Ten poundes to be paide within one yeare after my decease Item I give to Susan my daughter now the wife of Thomas Gleeson the some of Twentie poundes to be paide within twoe yeares after my decease Item I give to John my sonne & his heires the reversion of my twoe tenementes with the appurtenances at Fynyngham aforesaide to holde to hym the saide John & his heires ymediately after the decease of Elizabeth my wife (The possession of the same tenementes being already setteled uppon my said wife dureing her life) Item I give to Josephe my sonne the some of Fortie pounes to be paide unto hym at his age of three & twentie yeares & in the meane tyme to be brought up at the charge of my Executor And alsoe at some convenient tyme to be bound out as an apprentice at the charges of my Executor All the rest of my estate as well reall as personall my legacies herin before[?] detailed[?] devised & debtes & funerall charges being paide I give & devise to Thomas my sonne whome I doe make sole Executor of this my last will & testament And my will & meanyng is that if any of the saide William Page Susan Gleeson & Joseph Page shall dye before the tyme of paiement of their several legacies herin before devised Then the parte & portion of hym or them soe dieing shalbe Equally devided betweene the survivers & surviver of them In witnes wherof I the saide Thomas Page have herunto set my hand & seale the daye & yeare first before written Thomas Page Sealed published & delivered in the presence of George Scarpe Rebecca Page & Thomas Page.
This testament was proved at Ixworth before Master George Syer clerk master of arts Surrogate of the venerable Thomas [...] Doctor of Laws and the Pronotary and Commissary and Official for the Archdeaconry of Sudbury and town of St Edmund lawfully appointed, on the eleventh day of the month of July in the year of the Lord 1637 by the oath of Thomas Page the executor nominated in this testament, to whom was committed administration of goods etcetera, sworn to well [and faithfully administer], reserving etcetera. |
