Baranes V was defeated in 422, and granted the same toleration to Christians as Zoroastrians received in the Roman Empire. [1] He is mentioned in The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam: XVII They say the Lion and the Lizard keep The Courts where Jamshyd gloried and drank deep; And Bahram, that great Hunter---the Wild Ass Stamps o'er his Head, and he lies fast asleep. [1]
