- General Information: He is considered to be the last great Sasanian king (shah) of Iran. Khosrow is the New Persian variant of his name used by scholars
- Crowned: 590; He became the Shaw in 590 when his father was deposed and blinded. The leader of the revolt marched on the capital, and Chosroès II, with has family fled to the Byzantine Empire. With their help in 591, he regained his throne.
- Reign: From 590 to 628; King of Persia
- Military: From 602 to 628; With the usurption of the Byzantine throne by Phocas, relations deteriorated and from 602 to 628, Persia and the Byzantine Empire were at war. This war so weakened both countries that later with the coming of Islam they were defeated.

On 16 June 632, he was crowned the King of Persia.
He was the last of the Sassanian dynasty, and came to the throne too young to rule. Persia was engulfed in civil war, and beset by the Arab invasion. The Persians were defeated in 637 at Kadisiya and 641 at Neharend. Yazdegerd III was forced to flee to Media.
