And, in fact, a 1617 Wakefield court roll names John as his father’s son and heir, as follows: “Witness that in a bargain of sale from Robt. Binloffe in the County of Lancaster and Mary his wife on the one part to John Fairbank, son and heir to John Fairbank of the Haigh in the County of York yeoman on the other part.
