    • General Information: His territories covering those previously held by King Theoderich, with Reims as his capital. These lands were referred to for the first time by Gregory of Tours as Austrasia in 577. The Marii Episcopi Aventicensis Chronica records that "filii ipsius Charibertus, Guntegramnus, Hilpericus et Sigibertus" divided the kingdom between them on the death of their father in 561 (235). After the death of his brother King Charibert, Sigibert seized his lands, retaining in particular Poitiers and Tours against the rival claim of his brother King Chilperich

    The Marii Episcopi Aventicensis Chronica records that "Sigibertus rex Francorum" was killed by men of his brother King Chilperich. Paulus Diaconus records that "Sigispertus rex Francorum" was killed through the treachery of "Hilperici germani sw". He was probably murdered on the orders of Queen Fredegonde
