He became the 4th Baron of Ros in 1342. William de Ros lead the second brigade at the Battle of Crécy. Later, he commanded Newcastle-upon-Tyne at the time of the defeat of David Bruce, King of Scotland. In 1348, he was with the Black Prince at the siege of Calais. [William, married Margaret de Neville] He was summoned to Parliament from 25 November 1350 to 20 November 1351. He died in 1352 in Holy Land without issue.
- Married: 12 Jul 1358, Brancepeth, Couonty Durham, England; (2) Sir Henry Percy KG, Lord Percy and Earl of Northumberland, the son of Sir Henry de Percy, Lord Percy and Mary of Lancaster. He was born on 10 November 1341. [Henry, at age 16, married Margaret de Neville] He was summoned to Parliament on 1 December 1376. He was created Earl of Northumberland on 16 July 1377. After Margaret's death, on 15 December 1381 Henry, at age 40, married second, Maud de Lucy, daughter of Thomas de Lucy and Margaret de Multon, in England. In 1382, he was granted the right to hold a weekly market and a yearly fair at his manor at Seamer. On 14 September 1402, he and his son, Henry “Hotspur” defeated the Scots at Homildon Hill. He died 19 February 1407 at the Battle of Bramham Moor.
