    He was summoned to fight in Wales in 1257, and the next year, 1258, he was among the nobles sent to help the King of Scotland. In 1264, during the Barons' War, he accompanied the King to the siege of Northampton. He was taken prisoner at the Battle of Lewes in 1264, and freed after the battle of Eversham in 1265.

    Henry was the 9th Baron Percy. He was also Baron of Topcliffe; Warden of Galloway and Ayrshire; Justiciar in Dumfries; joint Justiciar in Lancastershire, Cumberland, and Westmoreland; Constable of Scarborough Castle; Justice of the Forest beyond Trent; Keeper of Bamburgh Castle; and Keeper of the Martches.

    He accompanied his grandfather, Sir John de Warenne, Earl of Surrey to Scotland.

    Knighted:
    He was knighted by the King at the capture of Berwick.

    Military:
    He fought at Dunbar, then in 1297, he received the submission of the Scottish prelates and nobles, including Robert the Bruce. In 1298, he fought at the Battle of Falkirk.

    On 6 February 1298/99, he was summoned to Parliament as Lord Percy.

    In 1300, he displayed a yellow banner with a blue lion at the siege of Caerlaverock. He signed the Baron's letter to Pope Boniface in 1301, and in 1304, he was present at the siege of Sterling. In 1306, he was besieged in Turnberry Castle by Robert the Bruce.

    He became the Baron of Alnwick, which he purchased from Anthony Bec, Bishop of Durham.
