    • History: 14 Dec 1922; AUTOMOBILE HITS TRAIN The Morning Herald, Uniontown PA, December 14, 1922, pg. 3 cols. 5,6,7 While returning to their homes in Connellsville, Tuesday evening, Howard and Samuel Brindle were shaken up and injured when their automobile ran into a train at Trotter crossing. Both men declared they did not notice the train at the crossing until it was too late to stop. The driver swerved the machine and did not hit the train head on. The steps leading into the cab of the engine were torn off and the auto was badly damaged in the collision. The two men were taken to Connellsville by W. M. Keily, of Dunbar, where injuries were dressed and they were later taken home.

    • History: 20 Jan 1975; The Huntington Herald Press, Huntington IN, Monday January 20, 1975 Samuel W. Brindle Samuel W. Brindle, 75, Lancaster, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday in Huntington Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted earlier in the day. Mr. Brindle had been a coal miner in Pennsylvania, prior to coming to Huntington in 1955. He was employed for 12 years at the Schact Rubber Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1967. He was born May 9, 1899 at Clardige, Pa., to John G. and Ethel McMichael Brindle and his marriage was on March 25, 1938 to Imogene Lohr, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Joann) Kaley, Fort Wayne and Mrs. Larry (Sally) Lewis, Lancaste, a step-daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Daily Rt. 2, a step-son, Howard R. Mason, Fort Wayne, 14 grandchildren and two brothers, Robert Brindle, Natora Heights, Pa and George Brindle, Marienville, Pa. Three brothers and three sisters are deceased. Friends may call at the Baily Mortuary where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. With Rev. Lloyd Poe officiating. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
