• History: 1788, Belpre, Washington County, Ohio; After graduation, he became the first school teacher in Farmer's Castle, a fort in the Belphre Settlement in Ohio.
• Military: 1792; He joined General Wayne's Army at Marietta, Ohio and was appointed Quartermaster General of the Army. In the autumn of 1792, General Wayne gathered his army at Fort Washington, Cincinnati and in October 1793, he moved into Indian country and build Fort Greenville. On 20 August 1794, General Wayne defeated the Indians at Fallen Timber, near Toledo, Ohio. After peace was concluded, Daniel Mayo left the Army and settled in Newport, Kentucky.
• Offices Held: 1796, Newport, Campbell County, Kentucky; He was appointed the Postmaster. He served for 40 years.
• Married: 25 Oct 1798, Washington County, Ohio; Mary Putnam, the daughter of Col. Israel and Sarah (Walde) Putnam. She was born on 5 August 1773 in Pomfret, Windham County, Connecticut.
