    • In 962, he was crowned the King of Alba. [1]
    • By 962, a rivalry had arisen between the heirs of Ædh MacAlpin and the heirs of Constantine MacAlpin. Cuilen, son of Indulf thought he should have been named king, and gathered support.

      In 965, the two forces met at Duncrub, and Dubh was the victor but Cuilen fled. When Dubh was killed, Cuillen asumed the throne. [1]
    • John of Fordun refers to Dubh in the late 14th century "as a man of dove-like simplicity but harsh on rebels and lawlessness in his realm". [1]
