Marie Gaughan Sauer, 98, of Brown Street, Ashley, died Monday in Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Sugar Notch on Jan. 4, 1895, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Kathryn Heinz Shields. She was educated in Sugar Notch schools and was a member of St. Leo's Church, Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Gaughan, in 1932; second husband, Frederick Sauer, in 1974; sons, John and Edward Gaughan; daughters, Rosemary Gaughan and Kathryn McEneny; sisters, Rose Shields and Kathleen Wilverding.
Surviving are a son, Leo Gaughan, Lexington, Mass.; daughter, Mrs. John (Ann) Krofchok, Ashley; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the Lehman Funeral Home, 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, Ashley.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. |
