     Mary Dorothy Travis was born circa 1911 at New York State.^1,2 She was the daughter of Andrew Alphonse Travis and Alma Agnes Peterson. Mary, age 4, appeared on the US Census of 1915 living at Middletown, Orange County, New York,in the household of her parents, Andrew Alphonse and Alma Agnes Travis.¹ Mary, age 8, appeared on the US Census of 1920 living at Laurie Street, Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey,in the household of her parents, Andrew Alphonse and Alma Agnes Travis.² Mary, age 18, appeared on the US Census of 1930 living at 178 Bergen Street, Newark, New Jersey,in the household of her mother, Alma Agnes Travis; Her occupation was an inspector at an electric factory.³ According to the Federal Census in 1930, Mary was an inspector in an electrical factory.³ As of 6 April 1930,her married name was MacConnell.

Mary Dorothy Travis married Edward John MacConnell Jr., age 19 , son of Edward John MacConnell and Charlotte D. Golder, on 6 April 1930 at the St. Luke's Methodist Church, Newark, Essex County, New Jersey.



Mary and Edward, age 29 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 on 530 Hunterdon Street, Newark, Essex County, New Jersey.⁶ Mary and Edward, age 39 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 on 2 Burnett Avenue, Maplewood, Essex County, New Jersey.⁷ According to the Federal Census in 1950, Mary was sealer in a peanut factory.⁷
