     Elias Whitney Travis was born on 14 October 1814 at Yorktown, Westchester County, New York.2,3,4 He was the son of John Travis and Phebe Whitney.1

Elias Whitney Travis married Elizabeth Tompkins, daughter of William Tompkins and Lydia Lane, in 1834 at Yorktown, Westchester County, New York. They were married by Esquire Hyatt at her father's house.

According to the Federal Census in 1870, Elias was a farmer.8 Elias and Elizabethmoved to Peekskill, Westchester County, New York, in May 1870 living on Broad Street, between Howard and Cortlandt.4 Elias Whitney Travis died on 3 March 1878 at Yorktown, Westchester County, New York, at age 63.1,3,2 Elias was buried at Yorktown Church Cemetery, Yorktown, Westchester County, New York.3
